Security and protection :

Security with your transactions with the BCGE Maestro card

To guard against fraudulent practices such as skimming (copying bank card data), activate the geoblocking facility on your BCGE Maestro card.

Sécurité de vos transactions avec la carte Maestro BCGE

What's geoblocking ?
It is a facility enabling your to block each geographical area (see below) within which you do not wish transactions to be carried out with your Maestro card.

By geoblocking areas where you will never carry out any transaction, you avoid skimming risks, as withdrawals are not possible in blocked areas. Please note that fraudulent transactions are mainly carried out outside Europe.

Two different ways to activate the geoblocking facility :
  • By contacting our Online Support service on 058 211 21 00, at your disposal Monday to Friday, 7.30am to 7.30pm and Saturday, 9am to 4pm
  • Directly on Netbanking, available 24/24, 7/7

Geographical areas
  • Switzerland & Liechtenstein
  • Europe (see detailed list below)
  • Russia
  • Africa
  • Canada
  • USA & Mexico
  • South America and the Caribbean
  • Middle East, Asia, Pacific and Australia

In addition, a daily limit of CHF 3'000 has been introduced, corresponding to the maximum daily amount that can be withdrawn from ATMs or paid for purchases using a Maestro card outside Switzerland and Europe.

We would also like to remind you of the precautionary measures that should be taken when conducting bank card transactions.

For more details  Please contact your BCGE adviser who will be pleased to provide you with any additional infomation.
