What are the differences between a management mandate and active investment advice?

Fundamentally, we have open architecture for active advice and we are obliged to show a preference for outside funds. The "best-in-class" fund offer applies to all clients on a neutral basis.
BCGE Asset Management is able to advise clients holding their asset portfolio in any bank in Switzerland. Securities and investment funds can be delivered at no extra cost.

What do we mean by global advice?

BCGE Asset Management concerns itself with all aspects of the investment process. It must be capable of expressing a valid opinion on strategic allocation (which, let us not forget, generates 80% of long term performance), risk allocation, tactical asset allocation, execution, monitoring and reporting.

In strategic allocation, it is essential to make the aims match the risks. Each investor has a different tolerance of risk, and similarly a different capacity for it. This principle is particularly important for pension funds, subject as they are to the specific constraints of the LOB. As regards risk allocation, BCGE Asset Management has very effective tools to help its clients make good tactical choices from various classes of assets – without losing sight of the market situation, which is taken into account particularly in the Group's quarterly investment strategy.

Execution is an important point; the institutional client expects execution to be carried out perfectly, at the right prices, especially as far as bonds are concerned. BCGE Asset Management makes great use of open architecture in the choice of investment vehicles by going to the range of funds in the Focus list. Moreover, BCGE Asset Management makes use of one of the best research services in Switzerland, namely that of ZCB. Finally, BCGE Asset Management is able to offer one specific feature: its research into secondary Swiss stocks focusing on long-term development.
